Hardware Usage
This section provides an introduction and usage guide for the hardware interfaces of the Radxa ROCK 4D.
📄️ Hardware Information
Chip Block Diagram
📄️ microSD Card Slot
The Radxa ROCK 4D features a standard onboard microSD card slot, compatible with microSD / microSDHC / microSDXC cards, primarily used as a system boot drive or for expanding storage capacity.
📄️ eMMC / UFS Module Interface
The Radxa ROCK 4D features an onboard eMMC/UFS combo module interface that supports both eMMC and UFS modules, which can be used as a system boot drive or for expanding storage capacity.
📄️ Power Header
Radxa Rock 4D supports three power supply methods:
📄️ HDMI 2.1 Interface
The Radxa ROCK 4D features one onboard HDMI 2.1 port that supports video output up to 4Kp120.
📄️ USB Type-A Ports
The Radxa ROCK 4D features 4 onboard USB Type-A ports, including 2 USB 3.0 ports and 2 USB 2.0 ports.
📄️ USB Type-C Port
The Radxa ROCK 4D supports both USB Type-C and GPIO power input. We recommend using the USB Type-C port for power supply, which supports 5V input only. A minimum current of 3A is recommended to ensure stable operation of all peripherals.
📄️ 40-Pin GPIO Interface
The Radxa ROCK 4D features an onboard 40-Pin GPIO (General Purpose Input/Output) interface, providing highly flexible interface support for hardware expansion.
📄️ Maskrom Button
The Radxa ROCK 4D features an onboard Maskrom button for entering Maskrom mode.
📄️ Recovery Pins
In hardware version v1.12 and later, the Recovery pins have been removed and replaced with power supply pins. To enter Loader mode, please use the reboot loader command after entering the system.
📄️ Gigabit Ethernet (with PoE Support) Interface
The Radxa ROCK 4D features one onboard Gigabit Ethernet port with PoE (Power over Ethernet) capability. However, to utilize PoE power delivery, you'll need to purchase and install a PoE HAT expansion board separately.
📄️ MIPI CSI Interface
The Radxa ROCK 4D features 2 onboard MIPI CSI interfaces for connecting camera modules:
📄️ MIPI DSI Interface
The Radxa ROCK 4D features one onboard MIPI DSI interface for connecting displays, supporting resolutions up to 2K.
📄️ FPC Connector
The Radxa ROCK 4D features an onboard FPC (Flexible Printed Circuit) connector that supports PCIe 2.1 standard with a single lane (x1) for high-speed data expansion.
📄️ RTC Connector
The Radxa ROCK 4D features an onboard RTC battery connector that allows you to connect an RTC battery. This provides continuous power to the Real-Time Clock (RTC) chip during power loss, ensuring the system clock continues to keep accurate time even when the board is powered off.
📄️ Fan Interface
The Radxa ROCK 4D features an onboard fan interface. You can connect a fan using a 2-Pin 1.25mm cable (fan operating voltage is 5V) to provide cooling for the motherboard.
📄️ Headphone Jack
The Radxa ROCK 4D features an onboard 3.5mm 4-pole headphone jack that supports both audio input and output.
📄️ Antenna Interface
The Radxa ROCK 4D comes with an onboard WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 chipset, featuring 2 antenna connectors for enhanced signal strength.
